Whatever you think of this church (and "Whatever", shrug, pretty much sums it up for me), You have to love Ace's Top Ten Mandated Changes to Make Christianity more Politically Correct and Inclusive. 7, 8, and 9 make me spit Coke (not the drug, the drink) on my computer screen:

Cracks me up

The latest and greatest blog currently in vogue (or is that en vogue? Whatever) is "Stuff White People Like". Each new posting is pretty darn good, but when you read the site as a whole, you find yourself nodding along going "YEAH! YEAH! I know someone, ok, me, just like that!"

And because I'm the whitest white woman in America, and love this CD, my favorite post is actually the guest column - Top Ten Hip Hop Songs White People Like. But then I read the one about the dogs, and Whole Foods, and the Prius.... Snort.

Worth checking out if you need a laugh!

Welcome to the 21st Century!

We just figured out how to use the RSS reader a few weeks ago, and man is it sweet. Check out "Google Reader" sometime. My favorite moment in RSS reader history was Sunday night of the Granogue/Wiss weekend. Chris was hitting "refresh" on that thing like a rat on a feeder bar, waiting for blogs to post updates about the big races that he missed. From the time fatmarc showed up in the reader to the time Chris got out to the site to leave a comment THREE other people had already commented. Wow....

Cheapy movie night, round two

So last night we were off to see the Bourne movie. Oh dang, I can never remember which one. Identity? Supremacy? No, wait, I've got it - Ultimatum. And it really is the ultimate summer movie thriller. What more could you want - it's got a hotty lead (Matt Damon), a hotty chick (Julia Stiles), and action/adventure all over the place. My only complaint with this movie is the same as with the Bourne Supremacy - they borrowed their camera style from "The Blair Witch Project". Hand cams have to be the most highly over-rated shooting style in the world. Thankfully it wasn't as extreme as in the last film, which I almost couldn't watch. It was just a lot of fun, and even if we did exchange some comments between Chris and I during the movie like:
"In case you were keeping count, this is the third secure perimeter"
and
"So you come home from a bad day at work, and walk into your apartment..."

If you don't mind spoilers, let's just go with - I agree with Ken Levine!

Been there, done that

I love this post from Dooce about how she scared the living daylights out of her husband over an electric bill. Because when Chris and I first started dating, we were watching tv, and a commercial for the movie "Naked Gun" came on. About halfway through the commercial, I felt the urge to confess something that would make me an outcast from society. A pariah. The bane of everyone's existence.

"Sweetie, I have a confession to make"
Pause while Chris mentally flips through the rolodex of men we both know so he can brace himself for which one I've started sleeping with.
"Yes?"
"I can't stand Leslie Nielsen or any of his movies."

I, too, have a lot to live down.

Oh no!

So Class Factotum is on blogging sabbatical for a while.

Garfield Ridge is in his last weeks before heading back to a full life, school, and we're all hoping, marrying The Nurse. So he'll be closing up shop soon, read him while you've got him. After reading his Weekend in Nowhere post, I should have tagged HIM for the saints meme. He may not believe in them, but I'll bet he could still come up with some doozy's. And yes, Dave, you are marrying the nurse, don't fight the inevitable.

Things to make me laugh

So I was reading Fatmarc's blog, and got to the very end where he's talking about Yoga. And he says:

I try to focus on breathing at the right times, but really the stretching is phenomenal, and I'll be honest I'm not disciplined enough to stretch for an hour a week by myself, but in the class, it just flies by, and of course there's the pose I'm best at, the corpse pose. pure relaxation after 55 minutes of twisting and heavy breathing.

To which the only response I can think of is.... Yeah, I'm best at the corpse pose too, especially when it's my hubby doing the twisting and heavy breathing....

Things that made me laugh: Flick Lives thoughts. I've had days where that's pretty much how I think....goofy blurbs that make me laugh

Things that made me sad: Cathy Seipp, a blogress that I used to read, died yesterday.

Things that made me smile: Goofy dog stuff at Rolling Dog Ranch

Things that made me ooh and ahhhh: Knut the Polar Bear over at Cute Overload. No, really, the dude who thinks the zoo should have killed this little guy is an idiot.

In other words, you're not getting any form of coherent blogging out of me today. So...nyah. Go read those guys instead.

Laziness

As we speak, my husband is doing the marathon trek through the snow to Philly for tomorrow's Mac Prom. (He has a camera, be warned). Thanks to snowy weather and leaving during Rush Hour (DOH!), he'll take about 6 hours to do a 4.5 hour trip.

On the downside, I'm missing out on seeing the Mac crew. We had a blast last year. I learned how to make a fist and throw a proper punch. And careful now, boys, the guy who taught me how throw a proper punch is an ex-bouncer. The skinniest bouncer you could ever imagine, but I know he knows what he's doing.

But anyway, that means that I get to be snuggled up on the couch with a bowl of chili and a cup of hot tea. And the realization that I don't like the movie "The Player". Oh well, easy come, easy go. I had the dogs out in the snow earlier, so they're busy snoring up a storm, which gives me an unusual evening of quiet.

And in my surfing, I found out...He's Back! Woohoo!

Elegy

So I’ve held off writing about the demise of Fatmarc’s blog, simply because I was hoping that he would pull a Garfield Ridge maneuver and say “Kidding! Just Kidding! I’m coming back!”

Alas it’s not looking good.

Which is a damn shame. I’ve sort of found in the last few years that I’m better off NOT reading the blogs of friends I only know peripherally well. There have been a few people whose company I enjoyed in a casual passing way, only to read their blogs and realize they’re a bit…one dimensional. While a blog can’t help but be all about me Me ME!, Marc has a great touch at keeping it from being totally self-absorbed.

So Marc, we’ll miss your updates, but at least Chris and I will be lucky enough to stay in touch via email & cross races.

TRM Cycles Blog

Since I've been getting a hit or two the last few days from people looking for the TRM Cycles blog (and I had about 30 bazillion links to it, so I show pretty much first on all of the searches), here's the deal. Chris was transferred to another store, and through a minor, um, delete key error, instead of transferring his posting to a neutral blog as he expected to, both neutral blog and TRM blog got deleted. Not what what he was hoping for. And now he's thrown his hands up in disgust and sworn off of blogging altogether. So TRM is free to reclaim the blogspot link if they like, but it's looking like Chris won't be keeping a separate blog. Which bums me out because even though I usually get to hear the stories first hand, I do enjoy his writing.

So that's the scoop!

Now for something completely un-bike related

The Anchoress has an amazing post about being a survivor of child abuse, and then moving beyond it. She doesn't dwell on "poor me" but more on "poor him". It's something I can't even imagine. My parents have always been the touchstone and rock from which I have grown and become me. Yet without that solid support, she has moved on, married, and had children. She has not let anger drive her and not let her experience make her bitter.

Sigmund, Carl & Alfred expound further on the role of religion in healing from abuse, specifically in The Anchoress's healing.
